A Verification Badge (green tick, blue tick, or certified seal) is a visual symbol on your Collab. profile that proves you have been authenticated. It tells clients: "This freelancer/business is real, vetted, and trusted."

Why should I get verified?

Verified profiles are 3x more likely to be contacted. Clients trust verified badges because they reduce hiring risk. In a world of fake profiles, verification makes you stand out.

What does Collab. verify?

We verify:

Identity– Government-issued ID or passport
Qualifications– Degrees, diplomas, certificates
Business Registration– Company documents, VAT, CIPC
Work History– Reference checks (on request)
Criminal & Credit– Background checks (optional)

How long does verification take?

Typically 24–48 hours once documents are submitted.

Is my information safe?

Yes. All documents are encrypted and stored in compliance with POPIA. We never share your personal information publicly—only the badge shows you're verified.

Can I get multiple badges?

Yes. You can verify for multiple services by providing verification documents for each.

Do I need to renew verification?

Badges are valid for 12 months, then require a simple re-verification to ensure details are current.

What does a Verification Badge mean?

A Verification Badge means that on the date of verification, Collab. reviewed the documents provided by the user and confirmed that they appeared to match the information provided on their profile. It is a snapshot in time based on the documents submitted.

What does a Verification Badge NOT mean?

This is critically important:

It is NOT a guarantee of identity:While Collab. reviews documents, we cannot guarantee that documents are not forged or that the person behind the screen is the same as the person in the ID document. We rely on the documents provided.
It is NOT an endorsement of skills:A badge does not mean Collab. has tested or approved the user's skills, work quality, or professionalism.
It is NOT a guarantee of performance:A verified user may still fail to deliver quality work, meet deadlines, or act professionally.
It is NOT a guarantee of ongoing status:A business's registration or tax status may change after verification. The badge reflects a point-in-time check.
It is NOT a substitute for your own due diligence:Clients must still conduct their own research, interviews, and reference checks before hiring any freelancer or business, verified or not.

Disclaimer of Liability

Collab. is not responsible for the accuracy, completeness, or ongoing validity of any verified information. The verification process is a service provided to enhance trust but does not create any liability on the part of Collab. for the actions, conduct, or work product of any verified user.

If a verified user is untruthful in their verification documents or misrepresents themselves, Collab. cannot be held liable. The client's sole recourse is against the user directly. Collab. may, at its discretion, revoke a verification badge if it discovers a violation of its Terms of Service.

Your Responsibility

Users:You are responsible for providing accurate and truthful information. Knowingly providing false documents will result in immediate account termination and may result in legal action.
Clients:You are responsible for conducting your own due diligence. A verification badge is a tool to help you, not a guarantee from Collab.

Right to Refuse or Revoke

Collab. reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to refuse verification or revoke a badge at any time if we suspect fraud, misrepresentation, or violation of our Terms of Service.

Compliance with Law

All users agree to comply with all applicable South African laws, including the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Your information is processed and stored securely in accordance with POPIA.
